I did an expose on the leaders of the organization American Family Rights Association (AFRA). In retaliation they contacted the owner of one of the email lists I'm on and threatened to sue the owner. The owner of the email list kicked me off the list. The owner of the email list is the owner of the website http://spiesonline.net/. She also sent me an email telling me to delete all links to her website. What should I do and would anybody help me? The following is the email I received from SpiesOnline.net.

The big storm and howling point

We had a big storm recently. I've just spent about three hours cleaning up leaves and other yard debris. My shoes are wet, my hands are wet and cold and I'm laughing because of a court decision. I still have a hell of a lot more leaves to clean up.

The link to the court decision is at Howling Point.

Let’s arrest all the Mexicans and export them

There's a crooked cop in the Washington County Sheriff's office. One lousy crooked cop. I've met a couple of the deputies. They are honest, hard working people who care about other people. But one crooked deputy can ruin the whole barrel.

The crooked cop's name is Doug Brown. He wants to arrest all Mexicans and deport them. His buddy's name is Dr. Ron Turco.

If they get their way there goes my free Spanish lessons.

I've been stabbed on a couple of occasions. I even spent a little while in a hospital because of a hatchet attack. I've been shot at a couple of times but, fortunately, the shooters were incompetent and they missed. A couple of the attacks may have come from me being in a garage band in Tucson in the 70''s. Then again, maybe a couple of the attacks came from me being a jerk.

The two most emotional experiences came from knife attacks who came from the woman who gave me my two beautiful, obnoxious teenage daughters. She didn't get arrested for the knife attack she committed against me but she did get arrested by the Portland, OR cops for a knife attack against a neightbor woman.

 I haven't posted for a few days. I figured if I didn't post the death threats would cease. I was wrong.

 I don't really take this blogging thing all that seriously but I guess some others do.

:As many people know, I'm the victim of parental aliention. My two teenage daughters have been trained to hate me. This sucks. Anyway I went out and bought them cell phones for protection purposes. I didn't know this but a cop told me all my daughters have to do when they find themselves in some sort of trouble is just press a button and, bam, the cops are alerted. The cops are also alerted to where my two daughters are.

Now I'm broke.

My two daughters may still hate me but now they're a little bit more protected against psycho perverts like Bill Mayhar.

Shakespeare Sonnet of the day

What can I say? I like Shakespeare.

Say that thou didst forsake me for some fault,
And I will comment upon that offence;
Speak of my lameness, and I straight will halt,
Against thy reasons making no defence.
Thou canst not, love, disgrace me half so ill,
To set a form upon desired change,
As I'll myself disgrace: knowing thy will,
I will acquaintance strangle and look strange,
Be absent from thy walks, and in my tongue
Thy sweet beloved name no more shall dwell,
Lest I, too much profane, should do it wrong
And haply of our old acquaintance tell.
For thee against myself I'll vow debate,
For I must ne'er love him whom thou dost hate.

Various entities also have threatened other bloggers because of what the other bloggers posted or, in some cases, just because of comments left on a particular post. The latest example is here.

Jeff Jarvis has a post entitled "Bloggers' Legal Defense Society".

I think we bloggers need a "Bloggers' Legal Defense Society".

The loonies in the Westboro Baptist Church strike again

The Joplin Globe has a story about the further adventures of the loonies in the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas. This time the loonies are insulting members of other churches and even their pastors. The following is an excerpt from the story.

'Filled with so much hate'

Anti-gay contingent draws street-side barbs
By Derek Spellman
Globe Staff Writer
11/29/04

Churchgoers, motorists and others sparred verbally with members of a group that gathered Sunday morning outside several local churches to decry homosexuality.

Six representatives from Westboro Baptist Church, of Topeka, Kan., marched across sidewalks and held signs saying "God Hates Fags" and "Your Pastor Is Lying." The church group, led by the Rev. Fred Phelps Sr., claims to have conducted 20,000 anti-gay demonstrations across the nation in the past 14 years.

The local protests were organized in response to a dispute in Webb City involving a high-school student and his gay-pride T-shirts.

Members of Westboro Baptist Church plan to mount a similar protest this morning outside Webb City High School.

A Phishing Warning

It seems a couple of local TV news programs have highlighted some phishing victims in the Portland Tri-County area. So I guess now is the time to put up a link to the Anti-Phishing Working Group.

What is Phishing?

Phishing attacks use 'spoofed' e-mails and fraudulent websites designed to fool recipients into divulging personal financial data such as credit card numbers, account usernames and passwords, social security numbers, etc. By hijacking the trusted brands of well-known banks, online retailers and credit card companies, phishers are able to convince up to 5% of recipients to respond to them.

I've been informed that state attorneys general in many states should also be contacted if one becomes a victim of a phishing scam. Also, the US Department of Justice has a webpage entitled "How to report internet-related crime".

So there, my four, faithful drunken readers in Joe's Saloon in the Virgin Islands who say I never do public service announcements.

Income Tax vs National Sales Tax

There seems to be a proposal going around about replacing the income tax and the social security tax with a national sales tax.

I understand that part of the proposal would be to exempt the poor from the sales tax. I also understand that it would be necessary to do away with the sixteenth amendment to the U. S. Constitution.

Amendment XVI

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

I think we should give it a try. Under the present system, apparently, the costs of complying with the tax code run into the billions of dollars. Besides, the present system is so broken we ought to just scrap it and start from scratch if the national sales tax doesn't work out.

"We spend about $400 billion a year complying with the tax code. We spend $200 billion a year just filling out IRS paperwork," said Rep. John Linder (search) , R-Ga., who has proposed a bill that would create a national sales tax.

Sen Toku

On the Discovery Channel right now there is a show about Sen Toku. During WW II the Japanese Imperial Navy built the largest submarines ever built. They never got a chance to really utilize them the way the subs were meant to be utilized, though. For pictures and more info about the ships in the Japanese Imperial Navy circa WW II visit this link.

While Japan built many submarines that were larger than those of other Navies, the three Sen Toku boats were far larger than anything ever seen before. Some 60% larger than the largest contemporary American submarine, USS Argonaut, they had more than twice her range. The most unusual feature was that they each carried three floatplane bombers (and parts for a fourth), a feat never achieved by any other class of submarine. These aircraft folded to fit into the 115-foot cylindrical hangar, which was slightly offset to starboard and opened forward to access the catapult. The huge double hull was formed of parallel cylindrical hulls so that it had a peculiar lazy-eight cross section, and may have inspired the Soviet Typhoon-class built some 40 years later. Although aircraft must be considered their primary armament, they also carried a formidable torpedo battery and the usual 14cm deck gun. Anti-aircraft armament included ten 25mm cannons in three triple mounts and one single. Each of these boats had radar and a snorkel.

The aircraft were the Aichi M6A1 Seiran, also carried by the Type AM submarines. Each of these monoplanes could carry one aerial torpedo or a bomb weighing up to 800kg. Powered by the 1,400hp Atsuta 32 engine (similar to Germany's DB601) they had a top speed of 295mph and were credited with a range of 642 nautical miles. The Sen Toku submarines carried four aerial torpedoes, three 800kg bombs, and twelve 250kg bombs to arm these aircraft. These aircraft had their assembly points coated with fluorescent paint to ease assembly in the dark, so four trained men could prepare an aircraft for launch in seven minutes. All three aircraft could be prepared, armed, and launched in 45 minutes.

Unfortunately for Japan, the war situation deteriorated so rapidly that these boats were never allowed to show what they could do. On 26 July 1945, I-400 and I-401 set out on a combat mission to launch their aircraft in Kamikaze attacks on the American fleet anchorage at Ulithi. In coordination with a Kaiten attack, they were scheduled to launch early on 17 August, but by then hostilities had ceased. Both boats therefore returned to Japan and were surrendered to the Allies. After the war, these two were taken to the United States, examined, and finally scuttled in the Pacific in 1946. I-402 was converted to carry precious fuel to Japan from the East Indies, but never performed such a mission. She was scuttled off Goto Island in 1946. Construction of two further boats of this design, I-404 and I-405, was stopped before completion, although I-404 was 90% complete. A further 13 boats were canceled before construction started.

Alabama and the looney Alabama Christian Coalition

It seems Alabama citizens had a chance to bring their state's consitution into the 21st century. In fact, Alabama had a chance to change their constitution to essentially say all American citizens in Alabama and all Alabama citizens were deserving of a public education and deserving of being treated with respect and dignity.

But wait...who should come riding out of the 18th century to put a stop to decency and honesty and equal rights? Lo and behold, I believe it is the Alabama Christian Coalition, that crazy organization dedicated to depriving American citizens in Alabama and Alabama citizens of the rights guaranteed under many other state constitutions.

Here in Oregon racism was enshrined in the state constitution but some years back the majority of Oregon citizens had a temporary attack of commen sense and changed the constitution to rid it of its racist past.

Mark Kleiman has a post opining on the foolishness of the majority of Alabama voters who voted to keep the Alabama constitution in the 18th century.

Oregon Judicial Watch and the lawsuit by Linda Haase

Susan Detlefsen is seeking the libertarian candidacy for state representative of Oregon district 42. Susan Detlefsen is a member of Oregon Judicial Watch and Oregon Judicial Watch is one of the entities being sued by Claud Ingram and Linda Reed Haase.

The reason the national Judicial Watch doesn't recognize Oregon Judicial Watch is because the national organization knows that Oregon Judicial Watch has been taken over by Roger Weidner and his gang.

As almost every lawyer, cop and judge in the state of Oregon knows, Roger Weidner and his gang of psycho vigilantes are homegrown terrorists. However, many people don't know this. Check out the following excerpt from an email.

No justice in Kentucky for the poor

Looks like there's no justice for the poor in Kentucky. In order for the justice system to work properly, there needs to sufficient resources for the prosecutors, defense attorneys, and the judges to be able to do their jobs. In Kentucky the public defenders do not have the resources necessary to do their jobs properly. This is why Kentucky may say its justice system is fair and maybe even adequate, but the circumstances indicate otherwise.

Red vs Blue - who’s get’s the pork?

David Broder has written an article wherein he writes that the recent budget legislation passed helps those areas of America that supported Bush at the expense of those areas that supported Kerry. I don't agree with all of his assessment but I suppose if some political blocs do, then those political blocs will act in their own interests as though Broder's thinking is true.

The division between the red and blue Americas has become a familiar topic for political talk shows. But it is a lot more than that. It has real-world consequences, effects that can be measured in hundreds of millions of dollars in federal spending.

The county-by-county maps, displaying vast expanses of red where George W. Bush prevailed for the second time in the Nov. 2 election, show a spreading Republican tide big enough to produce his overall 51 percent majority vote. Those blue dots on the map are the pockets of Democratic resistance, where John Kerry was able to win.

The blue dots are not just political blotches, however. They are the cities from Atlanta to Seattle, home to tens of millions of Americans. They are also the places where in the past federal programs -- subsidies to schools, police departments, transit systems and, most notably, housing agencies -- were vital.

The impact of these election returns was exhibited vividly and in damaging fashion in the catch-all government spending bill the Republican-controlled Congress cleared three weeks after Election Day.

The legislators who fashioned that bill and the president who will sign it get their votes from red America. The legislators and advocates who counted up the consequences come from the blue-dot city constituencies.

I think that the recent budget legislation passed merely reflects the Republican spending priorities and is not necessarily an attempt to "punish" those areas that supported Kerry. I also tend to disagree with many of the Republican spending priorities and much of their domestic agenda.

The Iraq election

It seems that the Shiites want the election to take place as planned and the Sunnis and Kurds wish to postpone the election. Apparently, the Shiites have prevailed and the election will be held as planned.

But what if some areas still under the control of insurgents aren't able to participate in the election? Will the election still be valid? What if large parts of areas controlled by Sunnis decide to boycott the election?

Charles Krauthammer has an opinion about this. The following is an excerpt from one of his articles.

In 1864, 11 of the 36 states did not participate in the presidential election. Was Lincoln's election therefore illegitimate?

In 1868, three years after the security situation had, shall we say, stabilized, three states (not insignificant ones: Texas, Virginia and Mississippi) did not participate in the election. Was Grant's election illegitimate?

There has been much talk that if the Iraqi election is held and some Sunni Arab provinces (perhaps three of the 18) do not participate, the election will be illegitimate. Nonsense. The election should be held. It should be open to everyone. If Iraq's Sunni Arabs -- barely 20 percent of the population -- decide they cannot abide giving up their 80 years of minority rule, ending with 30 years of Saddam Hussein's atrocious tyranny, then tough luck. They forfeit their chance to shape and participate in the new Iraq.

I think if certain areas or voters' blocks in Irag can't or won't participate in the election, it would still be a valid election.
