Comment spam

I have had the problem of comment spam for sometime. I disabled my comments section for awhile and put in a couple of forums for people to make comments in. They are the JohnHays.net forum and the Sleaze Report forums. I figured, "Who would spam a forum?" You wouldn't be suprised to know people actually spam forums.

Electric Venom points to a post about a prof who started to bill comment spammers for space on his weblog.

Like many weblogs, this is my little contribution to the blogosphere and I don't make any money from this blog. I actually have readers who are interested in what I have to write about. The freedom of the comments section is that I get some feedback from some of my readers. I feel the comment spammers have interfered with my right to have a comments section.

I have spent a lot of time erasing comment spammers from my comments section and it's a damn shame I have to spend time deleting comments when I could spend that time doing something else, like reading some of my favorite bloggers.

There are times when I thought, "To hell with it, I'm getting too much guff just for having a simple website and blog. It's not worth the effort for all the aggravation".

Then I read something at the Thomas Report. It's right below.

BEFORE THEY WERE FOUNDING FATHERS: "They were correspondents -- in the Committees of Correspondence, dedicated to combating with right information the disinformation and "spin" of their days, which emanated from the English King, his courtiers and ministers. Sound at all familiar? This publication today continues that mission of the Committees of Correspondence, as an antidote to the steady dose of media liberalism, political doublespeak, and bureaucratic obfuscation still hailing from the halls of power." -Stolen from The Federalist with a small change

By the way, I've almost completely given up on email because of all the spam.

NOTE: I've got better things to do than erase the childish, immature, psychotic, obscene comments from looney Roger Weidner and his gang of illiterate morons, so just put your opinions at the Johnhays.net Forum.
