Patterico's Pontifications has a post that leads to an article which states in part:
With no weapons, no ties, and no truth, the capture of Saddam was merely the most massive and irresponsible police raid in modern times. We broke in without a search warrant. Civilian deaths constituted justifiable homicide. America was again above the law. We have taught the next generation that many wrongs equal a right. In arrogance, we boasted, "We got him!" The shame is that we feel none for how we got him. The capture of this dictator, driven by the poison of lies, turned America itself into a dictator.
Man, if America is now a dictator, does this mean I'm a citizen dictator? If it does, I order everybody on the planet to send me a dollar.
I'm no lawyer but the writer of the article also brings up the fact that the members of the armed forces who captured Saddam didn't have a search warrant.
Even though I'm now a citizen dictator closely aligned with the global dictator, I swear, it's not my fault there wasn't a search warrant.
But...but.....I have a solution to the "dreaded search warrantless activities that happen in a combat theater" problem. Next time the U.S. and its allies go to war, we just send in a battalion of JAG officers as frontline troops. That way the JAG officers can forge signatures to all sorts of search warrants to their hearts' content. That should keep them happy for a little while, or at least until they realize they're where they least want to be. Of course, once the battalion of JAG officers realize there are enemies out there who want to do them harm, they'll hightail it back to the strip joints in the states, which is where they do most of their work anyway.
NOTE: I've got better things to do than erase the childish, immature, psychotic, obscene comments from looney Roger Weidner and his gang of illiterate morons, so just put your opinions at the Johnhays.net Forum.
