Man, the decision of some of the Multnomah County, Oregon commissioners to effect almost immediately the county counsel's opinion that not issuing licenses for same sex marriages is not a good thing under Oregon's constitution sure has upset some people. It's also caused quite a stir. As usual, The One True b!X has kept up with the controversy. The link and an excerpt from a post below leads us to an analysis of the process that decided same sex marriage ought to be done.
The Process Distraction.Everyone has become obsessively fixated upon the alleged irregularities of the process which led to Multnomah County's legal determination that discrimination against same-sex marriage violated the Oregon Constitution.
Then there is a second post entitled "The Process Distraction, Part II.
Since this is America, you've got to have some people who have appointed themselves to be the "Protectors of Society" suing anybody or anything which their religious views oppose. So these self appointed morons are suing Multnomah County in order to protect me from same sex marriage partners.
Oooooohhhhhhh, I just got to be protected from them bad same sex marriage partners.
Lawsuit Filed Against Multnomah County Officials. It says in part:
This morning at the Multnomah County courthouse, the newly-formed Defense of Marriage Coalition (website might not be active yet) filed a lawsuit (pdf) to halt and reverse the County's move to issue same-sex marriage licenses.
The One True b!X has written an analysis of the lawsuit in three parts. The links are below.

Of course, if you are going to go about suing people or government entities, you must have some sort of standing. The One True b!X has analyzed that in the link below.
On The Matter Of Standing.
His posts and the comments on his various posts also have links to other weblogs in the Portland area that comment about the same sex marriage controversy.
I even wrote a post about this subject and you can find it here.
